Last June I had the pleasure of designing for the cutest couple with a “Sunset in the Forest” wedding theme. Working with four colors the bride wanted to incorporate into both ceremony and reception, I got to work matching flower colors to the bride’s color swatches.
The assignment was to use golden yellow, fuchsia, orange and purple in the ceremony arbor, aisle markers, bridal and bridesmaid bouquets, reception low and high centerpieces and welcome sign.
Each of her 4 bridesmaids carried flowers in one of the 4 colors and wore dresses in that color. I was so pleased with the outcome and how closely matched the flowers were with dresses!
For the bridal bouquet, I wanted a nice mix of all the colors with an emphasis on fun, interesting textures. I put together an eclectic assortment of flowers that included dendrobium orchids and pincushions, flowing purple clematis, mixed with roses in each color.
Knowing that preserved flowers can be super colorful, I suggested using a mix of preserved and dried for the boutonnieres including a really fun pocket boutonniere for the special groom. This was also used for the welcome sign that had brightly colored yellow pampas grass.
This colorful theme would be great for summer weddings!
